A more comfortable, more discreet way to straighten your smile, planned and managed right here in Berthoud.

Clear, comfortable, and convenient

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear aligner system that gradually shifts your teeth into their ideal position using a series of custom-made, removable trays. Unlike traditional braces, there are no brackets, no wires, and no monthly adjustments that leave your mouth sore for days. You wear each set of aligners for about one to two weeks before moving on to the next, and because they're removable, you can eat whatever you want, brush and floss normally, and take them out for photos or special occasions. At Berthoud Family Dentistry, Dr. Sean offers Invisalign as part of a comprehensive approach to your smile, which means your treatment is planned with your overall dental health in mind, not just the alignment of your teeth. If you've been thinking about straightening your smile but the idea of traditional braces has held you back, Invisalign is worth a closer look.

Why patients love it

The benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign has changed the way adults and teens think about orthodontic treatment. The combination of discretion, comfort, and flexibility makes it an appealing option for patients who want real results without the lifestyle disruption that comes with traditional braces.

Nearly invisible

The clear aligner trays are designed to be as discreet as possible, fitting snugly over your teeth and barely noticeable to anyone around you. Most patients find that colleagues, friends, and family don't even realize they're in treatment until they mention it.

Removable and flexible

Because the aligners can be taken out, there are no food restrictions and no complicated cleaning routines. You remove them to eat, brush, and floss just like normal, then put them back in. It's a straightforward fit into everyday life that traditional braces simply can't offer.

Comfortable from day one

Without brackets or wires to irritate the inside of your cheeks and lips, most Invisalign patients find the experience significantly more comfortable than traditional braces. The gradual, controlled movement of each aligner set also tends to produce less soreness than the periodic tightening associated with metal braces.

Our Invisalign treatments

Invisalign for adults

Invisalign was built with adults in mind, and it remains the most popular choice for patients who want to straighten their teeth without anyone knowing they're doing it. Whether you've had braces before and experienced some shifting over the years, or you're addressing alignment for the first time, we'll evaluate your teeth and put together a treatment plan that works for your smile and your schedule. Most adult cases are completed within twelve to eighteen months, though more minor corrections can often be achieved in less time. You'll be able to see a digital preview of your projected results before you commit to anything.

Invisalign for teens

Invisalign offers a teen-specific version of their aligner system designed to accommodate the unique needs of younger patients, including teeth that may still be coming in and a lifestyle that's a little harder on dental appliances. The aligners include compliance indicators that fade with wear, making it easy to track whether they're being worn consistently. We'll assess whether Invisalign is the right fit for your teen's specific case and walk both of you through what treatment involves and what to expect along the way.

The Invisalign process

1

Your Invisalign consultation

Your treatment starts with a conversation. We'll evaluate your teeth, review your goals, and determine whether Invisalign is the right fit for your case. We'll use our 3D scanner to take a digital impression of your teeth, which is faster and more comfortable than traditional putty impressions and produces a highly accurate model for treatment planning. You'll also get to see a digital simulation of how your smile is expected to look at the end of treatment before you commit to anything.

2

Your custom aligners are made

Once your treatment plan is finalized and approved, your custom aligner series is fabricated and sent to our office. Each set of trays is precision-made to fit your teeth exactly and to apply the right amount of gentle pressure to move them gradually toward the desired position. When your aligners arrive, we'll bring you in to make sure everything fits correctly, walk you through how to wear and care for them, and answer any questions before you get started.

3

Wearing your aligners and checking in

You'll wear each set of aligners for roughly one to two weeks before moving to the next in the series, and you should aim to keep them in for twenty to twenty-two hours per day for best results. We'll schedule periodic check-in appointments to make sure your treatment is progressing as planned and address any adjustments that are needed along the way. Most patients find these visits are quick and straightforward since there's no tightening involved.

4

Your final result and retention

Once you've worked through your full aligner series, we'll evaluate your result and make sure everything has moved as planned. Like any orthodontic treatment, retention is an important final step. You'll receive a retainer to wear after treatment is complete to keep your teeth in their new position and protect the investment you've made in your smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still Have Questions?

We're happy to talk through your options before you commit to anything. Give us a call and we'll point you in the right direction.

Treatment length varies depending on the complexity of your case. Minor corrections can sometimes be achieved in as little as six months, while more involved cases typically take twelve to eighteen months. We'll give you a more specific estimate after evaluating your teeth during your consultation, and you'll be able to see a projected timeline as part of your digital treatment plan.

For best results, aligners should be worn for twenty to twenty-two hours per day. That means taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush and floss. Consistently wearing your aligners as directed is the single biggest factor in staying on track with your treatment timeline.

You should remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than plain water. Eating with aligners in can damage the trays, and certain drinks, particularly coffee, tea, and anything colored or sugary, can stain them and create an environment for bacteria to develop against your teeth. The good news is that there are no food restrictions with Invisalign since the trays always come out before meals.

Contact our office as soon as possible. Depending on where you are in your series, we may recommend moving on to the next set of aligners or having a replacement tray made. Losing or damaging an aligner occasionally happens and it's not a crisis, but it is something to address quickly so your treatment stays on schedule.
